Long underwear, (wool or polypropylene) does not take up much space and is effective insulation in wet or dry conditions. Fleece outerwear is popular with our guiding staff as insurance against the cold. Remember that cotton is not effective in keeping you warm and actually makes you cold when it gets wet. Please call the day before your trip for an updated weather report. | Trip Itinerary | | Generally, we meet at 7:00 AM. The staging area for the trip is our office at 325 Galice Road in Merlin, Oregon. Your first meal on the trip will be lunch, so plan appropriately. You will be loaned a dry bag for your belongings (PACK TIGHTLY). Soft duffle bags are convenient for packing your belongings; the duffles can be slipped in and out of the waterproof bags with ease. Hard suitcases do not work as they will not fit into the bags. For your convenience, waterproof bags are available at our office the day before your trip . Everyone will be fitted with a life jacket when you meet your guide at the boat ramp. Transportation is provided round trip from our office. You can plan to park your car in our parking lot while on the trip. At the end of the trip, our shuttle bus will return you to the office by 5:00 or 6:00 PM (earlier take-out times must be arranged in advance.) Car shuttles are available to have your car taken to the Agness area (additional fee). We recommend shuttling your car if you plan to visit the Oregon Coast after your trip on the river. You are welcome to bring a camera and/or a camcorder. We recommend you purchase a waterproof bag or case for your camera or recorder. Rogue Wilderness will assume no responsibility for the loss or damage of your camera, camcorder, your prescription glasses, or your personal fishing equipment and tackle you might want to bring for the trip. Should you break or loose one of the guide's fishing rods or reels, you are required to reimburse the guide for the loss. | Travel Directions | | We suggest staying in a Grants Pass motel or in a Bed and Breakfast Inn in Merlin the night before your trip.
